Title of the Paper: An Investigation of the Protection Performances for Current-Limiting Fuses Using Stainless Steel Wires

Abstract: Recently, owing to a high demand of and high dependence on electric power, the reliability of the distribution voltage of electric power systems has become more important. 22 kV high voltage cutout fuses have been used widely, but some melting accidents have occurred due to pollution/contamination of bushings. As the number of contaminants in bushings increases, the electric fields on the fuse element surface rise to a critical level, triggering corona discharge. A fuse element material that is more resistant to corona discharge than the Ag element is desired. A new type of current-limiting fuse made of stainless steel wires, which is low-cost and simple in design has been developed. Characteristics tests, including a blocking test with a high surge current when a voltage is applied, have been conducted. Using a model fuse, it was confirmed that this new type of fuse possesses similar performance characteristics to those with an Ag element.

Abstract: The goal of present paper consits in the realization a composit material with polymeric matrix. The synthetic polymeric matrix used at the obtaining composite is represented by a bicomponent silicone elastomer that strengthens itself at the room temperature by means of a poly condensation reaction. The materials obtained in laboratory contain metallized nettling like reinforcement material and powdery nanocarbon and iron silicon as filling agent. Measurements were conducted to determine the transmision diminishing carried out and X-ray diffraction.

Abstract: Nowadays, banks struggle to maintain their competitiveness and develop strategies to improve efficiency, by decreasing operational costs. Where multinational banks are concerned, the diversity of geographies usually multiplies the amount of repeated operations across borders, implying unnecessary costs. Banks are therefore starting to centralize some of their functions into shared-services centres where significant costs savings can be achieved. This paper analyzes the core areas within a bank, according to their potential of centralization, and provides a specific application to a European multinational bank with important international operations. Special focus is given to the Card Operations Department, in order to identify opportunities of centralization along the Group's operations.

Abstract: Nowadays humanity use about 50% of the existing potable water, but in the next 15 years this percentage will achieve 75%. Consequently the hydric stress risk will rise significantly across the entire planet. Accordingly several countries have to apply efficient hydric measures in the supply water sector, including at the building level. These measures beyond the water consumption reduction will contribute to increase the energy efficiency and to decrease the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) specially the CO2 emissions. This paper is focused on the study of a region in the center of Portugal (Aveiro). Its aim is to assess the impact of efficient devices implementation in the water consumption facilities in the global urban water cycle, as well in the energy efficiency increase and in the decrease of GHG emissions.

Abstract: The present paper proposes two methods for constructing new asymmetric ZCZ sequence sets. ZCZ sequence sets are used as spreading sequences for AS-CDMA systems. An asymmetric ZCZ sequence set is a type of ZCZ sequence set and consists of multiple sequence subsets. Compared with conventional ZCZ sequence sets, the most important property of the proposed asymmetric ZCZ sequence sets is that the cross-correlation function between arbitrary sequences that belong to different sequence subsets has quite a large zero-cross-correlation zone. This property is useful for application to the AS-CDMA systems. If a cell is divided into concentric circles and each sequence subset is assigned to users existing in each area between two circles, then the proposed asymmetric ZCZ sequence sets can achieve much larger zero-cross-correlation zones than the conventional ZCZ sequence sets. The proposed asymmetric ZCZ sequence sets are expected to be useful for designing spreading sequence!

Abstract: Simulation tools help creating a low cost and efficient development of embedded system. SID is an open source simulator software that consists library of components for modelling hardware and software components. A component can be written in C/C++ and Tcl/Tk. Currently, the SID simulation toolkit only provides support for C++ and Tcl/Tk. Tcl/Tk is used to create GUI-based components. However, we have observed that Tcl/Tk components causing slow simulation response. Developing GUI using Tcl/Tk is also inflexible. Thus it is not proper for developing the cutting-edge products with rich graphics. In this work, we introduced the idea of Java as an alternative platform for developing components in SID. We enabled this possibility by developing a bridge module for SID using socket and JNI. SID API in Java is also proposed to ensure the compatibility and simplicity of SID components in Java.

Based on former researches and EIA works, the authors present several case studies trying to answer the questions arising in different construction stages and different Chlorine adding methods, and make a comprehensive summary and discussion of the applicability of different methods, which include the in-situ monitoring and experimental method, the numerical method, and so on.

Abstract: Abstract: - Air pollution is considered to be the one of the most vital problem to all kinds of life. Air pollutants have no borders and can severely influence life on the planet earth. This work analyzes the air pollution yearlong hourly mean continuous data from one of the monitoring station located at the top of polyclinic in Al-Jahra city in the State of Kuwait. The measurements cover major pollutants such as carbon monoxide, methane, non-methane hydrocarbons (NM-HC) particulate matters (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Moreover, the data also include meteorological parameters, solar intensity, temperature, wind speed and wind direction. The seasonal variation for the year of 2008 is investigated (winter, spring, summer and autumn) for these pollutants. The data show daily averages and hourly maximum concentrations for each season of year 2008. The impacts of the diurnal variation of these pollutants and overall ambient air quality of this urban area in differ!
ent season have been presented in detail. The results confirmed that the road traffic was a major source of air pollution in the Al-Jahra area.

Abstract: The basic purpose of article is to find relationship between service quality, perceived value, customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions. The relationships between these variables are very complex so we will find the relationship in two models. First we simply check impact of each variable with other one. Secondly check that perceived value work as moderating variable between service quality and satisfaction or not. These all variables are very important for any manager to see that what matters a lot in order to satisfy customer. So, Critical indices are developed to identify critical factors of service quality and perceived value. This paper clarifies the dimensions of service quality and perceived value in hotel industry environment. This paper also compares that satisfaction or perceived value is better predictor of repurchase intentions. The last purpose is to check that is there any effect on these variables due to demographics variable like age, gende!
r, income, occupation. Survey Questionnaires are used to collect data from 125 luxury hotel customers of Pakistan. Instrument includes 59 items to measure all four variables. These variables are further subdivided into more dimensions for better measurement. SPSS 17 is used to do CFA and Regression analysis. First of all there are three dimensions of service quality discovered from this study. These dimensions are service consistency, service convenience and customer demand fulfillment. In perceived value, we find only two dimensions. These two dimensions are functional which is related with monetary value and other is symbolic which is related with social and emotional value. Secondly, this research finds relationship among service quality, perceived value, satisfaction and revisit intention in hotel industry. First of all the relationship between service quality dimensions and perceived value dimensions is significant.Then we find that perceived value and service quali!
ty have important and positive relationship with satisfaction and revi
sit intentions. Thirdly the perceived value and satisfaction both have positive relationship with repurchase intentions but satisfaction has stronger relation than perceived value. The paper is one of the first to provide critical factors which are important to improve service quality and increase perceived value. Secondly this paper is also first one to investigate the thorough relationship among all these important factors in Pakistani hotel industry context.

Abstract: This paper presents a novel approach for the extraction of interpretable rules from piecewise-linear approximation of any nonlinear classiο¬er, e.g. Support Vector Machine (SVM). Recent major interest in kernel methods has drawn an attention to the extraction of human-tractable and interpretable rules from such state-of-art and hyperplane-based classiο¬ers like SVM. Nevertheless, there is no clear understanding of the rule extraction routine from nonlinear SVM. The most comprehensible methods imply very complicated and indirect constraints that strictly enforce convexity of the searched-through half-space of inducted nonlinear classiο¬er [1]. Apparently non-convex hyper-surfaces couldnt be effectively described by a ο¬nite set of convex rules without violating bounds of constrained non-convex area. In this paper we describe an approach for converting a widely acknowledged rule extraction algorithm for Linear Support Vector Machine [3] into a number of constrain!
ed linear programming (LP) problems. Stated LP problems incorporate ο¬nite number of linear constraints based on different individual decision hyperplanes to ensure piecewise-linear approximation of underlying nonlinearity. We claim that proposed approach helps to extract better rules from linearly non-separable cases and could be effectively employed even for non-homogeneous target classes with high inner variance.

Abstract: Abstract A rapid, precise, accurate, specific, and simple 19F NMR spectroscopic method was developed for to the quantitative determination of ofloxacin enantiomeric ratio in pharmaceutical formulations using chiral recognition reagents. Different parameters affecting the enantioresolution of ofloxacin were investigated including the type and concentration of chiral selector and concentration of ofloxacin. It seems that among the different chiral selectors studied (ƒΡ-, ƒ�-, £^- and hydroxyl propyl ƒ�- cyclodextrins, vancomycin and maltodextrin with dextrose equivalents of 4.0'V7.0, 13.0'V17.0 and 16.5'V19.5), vancomycin displays the highest resolution of 19F NMR signals of (R)- and (S)-ofloxacin at lower concentrations. For quantitative analyses, calibration curves were used. The liner ranges of calibration graphs were 0.05 - 0.18 mg mL-1 for both ofloxacin and levofloxacin (S-ofloxacin). The detection limits (S/N = 3) were 6.35 and 5.4 £gg mL−1 for ofloxac!
in and levofloxacin (S-ofloxacin), respectively. The recovery studies were performed on pharmaceutical samples by spiking known amounts of analyte. The recovery percentages ranged from about 97 to 107% with relative standard deviations of <8%. Statistical investigations represented insignificant difference between the real and measured contents at t95% confidence level.

Abstract: The issue of river pollution and its pollutants control is one of the most important topics, which has been brought for discussion in the recent years. For the purpose of effective control of river pollution, it is essential to study mixing and pollution transmission processes. For realization of this objective, there are models for analyzing parameters of flow, quality of water and other parameters of mix and transmission process. This paper studies the parameters effective in one dimensional distribution and transmission of pollutant wastewaters in river using MIKE 11. It is concluded that if the pollutant enters to the river from a source without time variations (continuously), the longitudinal distribution factor shall have no effect on the results of model and the pollutant transmits to downstream by the flow exclusively with saturated concentration; and longitudinal distribution will be significant if the pollutant enters to the river from a source with quick!
variations. Moreover, it is concluded that the hydrodynamic results effect severely on the results of distribution and transmission model and the hydrodynamic model must be calibrated well prior to solving distribution and transmission equations.

Abstract: There are a large number of power distribution transformer stations due to it is far away from city, wireless network, GPRS, and 3.5G single transmission device provides a good communication solution to supervise power transformer stations. This paper develops a novel device used to monitor on-line signal for power transformers. The measured-data is captured from multi-sensors and stored in the server equipment database. Besides, these data is used for the prediction of the power transformer life consumption. The transformer life consumption is satisfied with IEEE Standard. Various faults could occur in a transformer such as overload current, overheating, partial discharge and arcing, which can diagnose various fault-related conditions. According to the conventional way of the dissolved gas analysis, the fault is probably determined. As researcher knows, the IEC codes cannot determine the fault in many cases. Abstract: This research focused on three questions. Is parent behavior related to children's technology use? Is children's technology use related to their creativity? Is parent behavior related to their children's creativity? The sample consisted of 490 parents and their 490 middle school children, 32% African American and 68% Caucasian American. Participants completed surveys as part of their participation in the Children and Technology Project. Findings indicated that parent behavior on the dimensions of warmth and control was unrelated to their child's technology use or creativity. One type of technology use was a strong predictor of multiple measures of creativity. Children who played videogames more were more creative than children who played videogames less.

Abstract: Abstract: - Every year, millions of people are suffering from bone defect arising from trauma, tumor or bone diseases. Therefore, there is a growing need for the development of biocomposites with excellent bioactivity and compatibility. In this study, nano-hydroxyapatite was elaborated by using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) under mild temperature condition. Comparison with pure nano-hydroxyapatite prepared by precipitation method was investigated. The main goal is to highlight the effects of the introduction of polymers on the physico-chemical properties, morphology and on the chemical reactivity and bioactivity for applications in bony surgery. TEM showed a nanosphere hydroxyapatite with an average diameter 45 nm obtained by using PVA. Nano-rods HA with an average dimensions 13 nm width and 156 nm length were obtained by using, PVP. "In-vitro" physiological stability and solubility of the investigated samples was performed by soaking powde!
r in Simulated Body Fluid under physiological condition. Characterization by XRD, FT-IR SEM-EDS and ICP-OES were performed to identify phases, microstructure and then the chemical reactivity and bioactivity after soaking in SBF to evaluate the bioactivity kinetics. Crystals on the polymer fibril matrix exhibited certain orientation. Bone like apatite layer onto the surfaces is confirmed after post immersion in SBF by FT-IR, SEM-EDS and XRD. The polymer matrix controlled the dissolution precipitation reactivity with specific rate without change on the pH of the surrounding physiological body fluid.

The results confirmed the absence of toxicity and a good cell proliferation on this biomaterial. However, the addition of chitosan in the glass matrix enhances the cell proliferation of about 5% after 6 days after culturing.

Abstract: Abstract A rapid, precise, accurate, specific, and simple 19F NMR spectroscopic method was developed for to the quantitative determination of ofloxacin enantiomeric ratio in pharmaceutical formulations using chiral recognition reagents. Different parameters affecting the enantioresolution of ofloxacin were investigated including the type and concentration of chiral selector and concentration of ofloxacin. It seems that among the different chiral selectors studied (ƒΡ-, ƒ�-, £^- and hydroxyl propyl ƒ�- cyclodextrins, vancomycin and maltodextrin with dextrose equivalents of 4.0'V7.0, 13.0'V17.0 and 16.5'V19.5), vancomycin displays the highest resolution of 19F NMR signals of (R)- and (S)-ofloxacin at lower concentrations. For quantitative analyses, calibration curves were used. The liner ranges of calibration graphs were 0.05 - 0.18 mg mL-1 for both ofloxacin and levofloxacin (S-ofloxacin). The detection limits (S/N = 3) were 6.35 and 5.4 £gg mL−1 for ofloxac!
in and levofloxacin (S-ofloxacin), respectively. The recovery studies were performed on pharmaceutical samples by spiking known amounts of analyte. The recovery percentages ranged from about 97 to 107% with relative standard deviations of <8%. Statistical investigations represented insignificant difference between the real and measured contents at t95% confidence level.

Abstract: Clustering analysis is the process of separating data according to some similarity measure. A cluster consists of data which more are similar to each other than to other clusters. The similarity of a datum to a certain cluster can be defined as the distance of that datum to the prototype of that cluster. Typically, the prototype of a cluster is a real vector which is called the center of that cluster. In this paper, the prototype of a cluster is generalized to be a complex vector (complex center). A new distance measure is introduced. New formulas for the fuzzy membership and the fuzzy covariance matrix are introduced. Cluster validity measures are used to assess the goodness of the partitions obtained by the complex centers compared those obtained by the real centers. The validity measures used in this paper are the Partition Coefficient (PC), Classification Entropy (CE), Partition Index (SC), Separation Index (S), Xie and Beni's Index(XB), Dunn's Index (DI) . I!
t is shown in this paper that clustering with complex prototypes will give better partitions of the data than using real prototypes.

Abstract: The goal of our prospective and controlled study was to dose the serum C reactive protein by Tina-quant immunoturbidimetric technique in parallel with leukocytes counting, in case of patients in the second gestational trimester with threatened abortion of unknown cause, that did or did not evolve towards spontaneous abortion during hospitalization, or with recurrent abortions in their priors, or with subclinical chorioamnionitis with or without broken membranes, or hospitalized for medical induction of the abortion for fetal reasons (such as retained dead fetus), or with acute pyelonephritis, subclinical mixed vaginitis or areolar mammary abscess, or with a normal pregnancy. Our results constantly indicate a significant (more accentuated after exogenous administration of prostaglandins in induced abortion) and maximum increase of serum CRP concentration (but not of the leukocytes number) at 24 hours postabortum, followed by a progressive decrease, of minimum 18%, !
of the same parameter, at 48 hours after non complicated second trimester abortion. Only the pregnancy complicated with high urogenital bacterial infections is accompanied by pathological values of the serum CRP (but not of the leukogram) that are significantly increased with respect to those from a normal pregnancy or one complicated with threatened abortion of unknown and non evolutive cause, or recurrent abortions in history. The obtained results suggest that a repeated measurement of the serum CRP concentration could be a valuable predictive marker for intrauterine infection, both in the late periabortum period as well as in the latency phase of the extremely premature rupture of the membranes or even when the fetal membranes are intact in the second trimester

Block diagram programming through VisSim environment is used to implement models for those devices. The benefits of using this modeling technique are the simplicity of carrying out the performance's measurement through computer simulation instead of setting up a practical procedure which becomes expensive as well as the difficulty of its management. The roles that the parameters of fabrication can play in the characteristics of gamma ray spectroscopy's are discussed through developed models implemented by VisSim environment. The present methodology shows that the electronic noise can be minimized by decreasing various effects such as leakage current, temperature, and 1/f spectral noise density. Moreover, an optimum value of the integration time and input capacitance was found to be 1.08μs and 0, respectively. Pileup model is implemented to reduce or eliminate this effect!
. In order to confirm our models and their validity on the practical applications, a comparison between the results obtained by proposed models and that experimentally published are conducted and full agreement is observed.

Abstract: Intelligent Transport Services (ITS) applications require availability of the seamless secure communications solutions covering usually wide areas and serving frequently extensive number of moving objects. Selectable levels of service quality are required in dependence on provided transport telematics service. There is available quite extensive range of wireless data services provided by public telecommunications providers frequently in quite reasonable pricing, however, with no guaranteed service quality. Studied telematics solutions expectations lead to the multi-path solutions where principal improvement in service quality is reached by systematic implementation of the telecommunications services quality management, efficient decision processes as well as appropriate flexible architecture. Complex approach has been adopted by ISO working group TC204, WG16.1 known as CALM family of standards. Related decisions processes are, however, not as deeply discussed in av!
ailable WG outputs as well as applied switching approach (L2) is rather complex for implementation. Authors, however, fully agreed with need of deep understanding of each applied alternative and precisely quantified requirements on its performance indicators. To cover high system requirements each applied technology was studied in detail to enable identification of specific performance indicators ranges as well as their internal interactions. Paper presents results of simplified heuristic decision processes pilot implementation build on technologies analysis. This pilot solution applies exclusively IP routing instead of the L2 switching approach. Obtained promising results represent relevant basis for the alternative solutions to CALM ideas based system with implemented below described complex adaptive decision processes.

For this purpose plasma containing five various gasses or their mixtures: air, argon, argon then allylamine, argon wearing ammonia and argon with octafluorocyclobutane, were used. Changes in the surface hydrophilicity, roughness and the chemical composition of modified poly(1-butene) films were investigated by contact angle measurements, atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. All types of plasma treatment expect fluorocarbon plasma cause increase of polar functional groups on the surfaces and their hydrophilicity. On the other hand, fluorocarbon plasmas cause increase of contact angle and hydrophobicity.

Abstract: A low cost, black nickel solar absorber coating used in thermal solar collectors on nanostructured high thermal conductor copper was analyzed using XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and MFM (magnetic force microscopy) techniques. Copper substrate nanostructuration was realized by electrochemical polishing to improve MFM analysis. Black nickel solar absorber coating was electrodeposited on nanostructured C81100 copper due to their good optical properties and low cost. XPS results after 15 minutes of sputtering identified black nickel as a Cermet mainly composed of two metallic nickel atoms for each nickel and zinc sulfide, i.e. 2 Ni: NiS: ZnS and traces of thiocyanate. The MFM black nickel lock-in-phase 1 x 1 ƒέm image presents a estimate mean diameter particle size in of (31 'Σ 16) nm and mode diameter particle size of (6 'Σ 16) nm. This nanometric particle was attributed to the ferromagnetic metallic nickel found in XPS analysis. Thus, MFM validate that black!
nickel solar absorber coating is a nanometric graded cermet of NiS-ZnS with 13 % of metallic nickel nanoparticles by chemical composition of XPS results and MFM.

Abstract: In this paper the Lucas optimal growth of the human capital and consumption on finite horizon is analyzed when the number of workers is not normalized. The main purpose is to establish the dependence of the optimal human capital and consumption evolution on the number of workers. The analysis reveals: for any initial value h_0 > 0 there exists an optimal evolution path of length N +1 for the human capital and it satisfies the Euler equation; at the moment N the human capital is given by the relation h_N = (1 - d)h_{N-T}; the value function V_N is continuous on R+ and there is A_V > 0 such as V_N(h_0,m_0) <= A_V h_0; the family of functions V_{N-T} satisfies the Bellman equation and it is the unique solution of this equation which is continuous and satisfies the transversality condition.

Abstract: In this paper, the real-time meteorological data analysis and mapping information system is proposed. This system makes real-time data and the results of analysis available through all end users. It captures the real-time meteorological data from meteorological stations, pushes these data into geodatabase and publishes the raw data and the results of analysis through server as a web mapping service that can be accepted by any desktop and web applications. One of contributions of the proposed system is executing the real-time analysis and mapping operations whenever the latest real-time meteorological data arrive to the system via a determined protocol from meteorological stations. This contribution allows the system to store, analyze and map each meteorological data once. Other contribution is related to mapping operations. Proposed system creates the map for certain data and for the results of analysis and renews each time when the data is changed. Due to these co!
ntributions proposed information system allows the end users to get newest metrological information in instant. Besides, because these operations are performed on the server side, any end user can use them without the need for custom code.

Abstract: A solar collector is an apparatus that collects the sunlight energy then alters this energy into a more usable or storable energy form. The absorber surface used in thermal solar collectors requires high absorptance in the solar spectrum and low emittance. Several techniques, such as vacuum techniques, are currently used to produce solar absorber surfaces. However, the desired characteristics of the solar absorber coating may be better controlled by direct electrodeposition such as their nanostructuration. Other electrodeposition advantages are basically rapidity, low cost, free from porosity and industrial applicability. Copper substrate was chosen due to its use in a large variety of domestic and industrial piping as a thermal and electrical conductor. Copper substrate nanostructuration was realized by electrochemical polishing to minimize textural surface effects as such the light trapping and optical losses also. Black nickel was electrodeposited on nickel film!
s produced by the Watts solution on nanostructured C81100 copper due to their good optical properties and low cost. The nanostructured black nickel layer presented a thickness around (2.9 'Σ 0.1) ƒέm and a higher selectivity of ƒΡ/ƒΥ = 11, against ƒΡ/ƒΥ = 8.9 of the non structured condition. The nanostructured black nickel presented a higher concentrated grain range size and lower nanometric RMS, a diameter deviation of 17 nm against 42 nm for the non structured condition. AFM and optical results confirmed that the nanometric size of black nickel grains and their grain size standard deviation are decisive factors to decrease the emittance and increase the final selectivity.

Abstract: User interface research has shown that the user's primary focus is the center of the screen. The periphery is available and often used to contain elements that are helpful but non-essential to the specific existing goals. Strong present examples of this can be found in Microsoft's Multiple Document Interface Office products (such as MS Word and MS Excel). Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes are good examples of products that are more in tune with multiple application interfaces rather than just multiple instances of similar documents. This paper is following many of the elements set forth in those examples, as significant marketing research has been incorporated into those products. User personas of window's applications range from sales demo's to trade show viewers to beginning users to expert users. The PC host of these can be touch screen or mouse driven, and the display itself, while typically standard VGA variation, may also go to a wide screen format for s!
ome applications. The frame / application combination allows variations to create an optimum experience for each of these scenarios. In addition, this paper introduces the enhanced status line by applying a basic user interface design principle of "combine display and update capabilities" to the status line of a host frame.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a logging service on .NET environment that utilizes the business process management domain to improve business fault tolerance, fault avoidance and alert managers to undesirable effects. The purpose of logging business processes states or exceptions are a repository for actions, events, and communications for a better understanding of the business mechanism. A practical software method called diagnostics logging control (DLC) has been implemented for this business mechanism. Furthermore, a browser-based viewer has also been developed to present the diagnostics information of the overall integrated business system.

Abstract: The majority of the fuzzy controllers in the literature depend on simple logic that particularly depends on raw data of a single detector. Their input variables are usually simple estimates of traffic measures such as flow, speed or occupancy, estimated from such single detector readings. A room for improvement is sought in this paper by developing a fuzzy logic model (FLM) that could be integrated with smarter "processing" tools to estimate several traffic measures from multiple detectors on each approach. The estimates obtained from this processing tool are integrated as input knowledge into the FLM. The mathematical formulation of these traffic measures is presented. The fuzzy logic structure is addressed in details. A simulation model is devised to test the effectiveness of the FLM. The results are presented and discussed in details.

Abstract: In this paper we present the analysis of convective heat transfer in the walls of a house insulated with polystyrene. In the first part we make an evaluation of the insulation that is currently used in the houses. We start the simulation using a real model of a house and than we make the model in Solidworks 2009. We run the model in Solidworks Thermal study after we insert the initial conditions. We notice that the obtained results indicate a problem which occurs inside the brick, the dew-point appearance. Further investigations must be made to solve this problem.

Abstract: For many years, hospital nurse call solutions had been stand-alone systems with occasional integration to pocket paging for outputting patient call alerts to mobile staff. During the early 1990's, the demand for nurse call activity reporting increased, as PCs became common place and customers began using them to support risk management and quality improvement processes. In the late 1990's, technology enabled in-building wireless phones to supplement or replace paging systems as a means of not only sending alerts, but also enabling voice communication between mobile staff and patients. Today's nurse call market requires integration of additional information from location and ADT (admit, discharge, transfer) systems into what have traditionally been nurse call applications. This system information is required not only at the nursing station, pagers, and phones, but also at PCs placed on each patient care floor in hallways, nurse stations, and offices, and at areas a!
way from the patients, including administrator and clinical engineering offices. In this paper, event manager server (EMSrv) has been developed to facilitate this communication with the nurse call system.

Abstract: Today's heterogeneous business environments are complex and highly collaborative in which several different types of business events shape. Many devices that coexist in the same business environment generate these events, and this situation requires better integration and real-time communication solutions. We propose a fully integrated communications network solution called Integrated Event Management System (IEMS) that provides a range of mechanisms to meet the individual requirements of the business environments. IEMS is a software product designed to improve the quality and management of any heterogeneous business environment such as Hospital Nurse Call System (HNCS). The functionality of this network is invaluable to offer communication solutions to everyone in the system. The present investigation of performance and emission characteristics of a DI diesel engine with gaseous hydrogen as a sole fuel inducted along with spark plug as a source of ignition. The timing of both the injection and ignition is controlled by an ECU. The ECU is set such that!
the ignition timing, injection timing and injection duration are variable over a period of crank angle. Ignition timing is varied of a 20 Degree CA duration. Injection timing is also varied 20 Degree CA. Variation in performance is studied by varying all the 3 parameters simultaneously.

Abstract: The task of a standard fuzzy logic controller is to find a crisp control action from the fuzzy rule-base and from a set of crisp inputs. In this paper we propose an extension of this type of reasoning using Mobile Agents which works with crisp data, intervals and/or linguistic terms as inputs and with various matching methods. Abstract: A small scaled model of the lamina flow engine is built to study the challenges associated with its fabrication and installation in vehicles and to approximate its production cost. The model engine produces 216mW at 0.6% efficiency using an aluminum hot tube. Subsequent experiments with different materials for the hot tube yields higher efficiency at the cost of higher production cost. A cost-efficiency relationship developed suggested a commercial thermoacoustic engine used in vehicles should be made at a production cost target of less than RM 7.85 (approximately 25USD) per percent efficiency.

Abstract: In this work an algorithm to adjust parameters of time series forecasting in function of energy of series using a feed-forward NN-based nonlinear autoregressive model is presented. The criterion for fitting comprises to yield value time series from forecasted time series area. These values are approximated by the NN to generate a primitive calculated as an area by the predictor filter. The NN output will tend to approximate the current value available from the series which has the same Hurst Parameter as the real time series. The approach is tested over a time series obtained from samples of the Mackey-Glass delay differential equations (MG).

Abstract: Abstract—Analysis of Intracranial Pressure signal (ICP) is extremely important in the prediction of the abrupt increases because this sudden elevation can be life threatening and it is a sign of secondary brain injury. Two methods were used to analyze ICP signals. In the first method, regular episode of ICP signal is segmented into four parts of #0, #5, #15, and #25 with the duration of three minutes each and beginning at 0, 5, 15, and 25 minutes prior to the onset of amplitude elevation, respectively. Using Fourier transform, wavelet transform, and dual tree complex wavelet transform, several features were extracted. Next, the most informative features are selected with regards to three different criteria: T-Test, Statistical Correlation, and Genetic Algorithm with the cost function of SVM classification error. Then these most informative features are classified using SVM. The accuracy rate of 73.38% was achieved. In the second method, using morphological analysi!

Abstract: This paper deals with a testing method suitable for SIP infrastructure. The performance testing is an issue of research and no standardized methodology has been adopted yet. We present the main ideas of our method that have been verified on open source software PBX Asterisk, as a representative of the well-known SIP solution. To be able to compare the machine/platform irrespective of a particular HW or SW version, we relate the results of the performance ratio with transcoding to performance without codec translation. This way we are able to achieve a comparative ratio that is independent of hardware.

Abstract: Voice over IP is surely technology with enormous potential and we can find many applications utilizing VoIP as a communication platform. The paper deals with developed system based on VoIP enabling a user to distribute a voice message on mobile phones. It can be used not only for the purpose of warning in case of disasters but generally to notify people and announce an important message. The benefit of using voice message to transfer information, as opposed to other forms of alerts distribution, is that the end user is forced to pick up the call and to listen to the message – i.e. information cannot be missed or disregarded. Optimalization and estimated performance are related to the design of developed system therefore this issue is described in the paper too.

Abstract: In industrial electronic systems, power converters with power components are used. Each controlled component has its own control circuit. In this paper, the author proposes an original control circuit for each function in order to replace the different existing circuits. The proposed circuit is the representation of an elliptical trigonometric function as "Elliptic Mar" and "Elliptic Jes-x" that are particular cases of the elliptical trigonometry. Thus, with one function, by varying the values of its parameters, the output waveform will change and can describe more than 12 different waveforms. Finally for each function, a block diagram, a model of the circuit and a programming part are treated using Matlab/Simulink. The results of the studied circuit are presented and discussed.

Abstract: The paper presents a new method to compensate errors due to temperature variation at cold junction of the thermo-couples. The presented method is based on the realization of a neuro-fuzzy controller in order to get a quick error compensation model based on information related to the cold junction temperature variations. The model uses the experimentally obtained numerical values and has the advantage of fuzzy logic to process empirical signals, without using analytical mathematical models.

Abstract: Endotoxin tolerance is an important phenomenon of innate immunity. It is usually defined as a reduced responsiveness to a lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge following a first encounter with endotoxin. The actors of the endotoxin tolerance are a Gram-negative bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS), the proinflammatory cytokines (the best marker of the inflammatory process is considered to be the TNF-) and the downregulating factors. It has to be noted that there are two possible outcomes at a secondary challenge with endotoxin: 1) the first and the second responses are similar or 2) the second response is significantly reduced (close to 0). This last outcome is the usual case and it is known as the typical endotoxin tolerance phenomenon. This is the subject of this paper. There are many reasons which explain the interest in understanding the endotoxin tolerance (for example, the connections with sepsis). It would be of great help to have a simple but good enough mathem!
atical model for testing and simulating endotoxin tolerance in various reported situations and also for a better understanding of the factors acting during this complex phenomenon. In some previous works the authors introduced an original mathematical (ODE) model of endotoxin tolerance. The aim of this lecture is to present this model and some new improvements (the Petri net associated to the endotoxin tolerance phenomenon) together with applications (mainly in sepsis). Our original mathematical model of the endotoxin tolerance is based on a generalized version of the Michaelis - Menten - Hill equations for enzymatic reactions. This is a nonlinear and non autonomous ODE system with LPS as an input. We also tried to keep our model as simple as possible; the model could be, of course, developed to a more sophisticated one. In order to test our model we considered several typical scenarios for the input (LPS challenge) such as: in vivo, in vitro, immune paralysis (clinical sep!
sis). In each case, the mathematical simulation fits well-enough with
the reported experimental data.

Abstract: Abstract: This paper reports the findings of a study on the aspiration and implementation towards change in teaching and learning among teachers in the Malaysian Secondary Schools. An instrument consisting of 24 items was used to measure the perception of teachers on the aspiration and actual implementation towards teaching and learning in the classrooms of these schools. Findings of the study indicated that the mean score of their actual teaching practices is 3.88 and a standard deviation of 0.52 which is higher compared to the score on teachers' aspiration towards change in teaching and learning which obtained a mean of 3.13 and a standard deviation of 0.85. This study also reports that there are significant differences between teachers' aspiration towards change and their actual classroom practices based on gender, age, ethnic, professional qualification and types of school. Despite these differences, the general attitude of teachers in this study is rather posi!
tive towards their teaching and learning practice in the classrooms.

Abstract: The paper presents the mathematical model of a system, with direct action, for the regulation of the air debit in the aircrafts' cabins. It consists of a debit transducer, a regulator and an execution element. Using two different methods (least square method and neural networks method), one makes the identification of the system, obtaining (using a Matlab program and a Matlab/Simulink model) the responses to step or impulse input in the complex and discrete planes and time variations of non-dimensional pressure inside the regulator. With least square method (LSM) the output of the system and the output of the model were plotted. The identi-fication is made very well – the two signals overlap. The identifi-cation may also be made using neural networks. Using this method, one obtained the indicial responses of the control system and of the neural network before and after the training process.

Abstract: This paper presents a proposed robust control structure for real-time trajectory control of an experimental robot manipulator. For the sake of comparison, a standard PID controller was used to control robot manipulator's trajectory. The proposed robust control structure was found to be more effective for realtime control of the experimental robot than a conventional PID controller; it can also be used for robotic systems similar to the system used in this experimental setup.

Abstract: The article presents a preflow algorithm for the parametric minimum flow problem working in a parametric residual network with linear lower bound functions of a single parameter. On each of the iterations, the highest-label partitioning preflow-pull algorithm (H-L P P-P) pulls flow from an active node with the highest distance label over a conditionally admissible arc. After each pull of flow, either the parametric residual capacity of the arc or the parametric deficit of the node becomes zero for at least a subinterval of the parameter values. If the two situations take place in different subintervals, the algorithm is continued in two different parametric residual networks generated by this partitioning pull. The template-like structure of a dialogue act reveals a design where information about the items (part-of-speech) is a multiple section vector with one segment for each of the used part of speech categories. These categories are divided into groups, accordin!
g to their importance regarding the task, enabling each segment to use its own representations for the words within it.

Abstract: Traditional methods for beamforming can be grouped in two families, the time reference beamformer and the spatial reference beamforming. Nevertheless, the increasing demand on receivers for location systems and high bandwidth over frequency selective fading able to properly manage multipath and co-channel interference motivates the need for versatile processing able to cope with both problems. This paper presents a new beamforming procedure, derived from a ML-like framework, which is able to either remove full coherent arrivals, as well as, to enhance them when required yet preserving the receiver architecture and low design complexity. The performance of the beamformer is also tested in the multiuser broadcast scenario.

Using this technology, it is possible to get quality indexes, which are similar to the results achieved now with the use of conventional PSS, but having various gains of stabilization channels in different operating conditions. The second method, it is by using the robust linear H‡ Stabilizer, who was applied as a test control system in this work. The simplest "single machine–infinite Bus" (SMIB) system was used for evaluation of effectiveness of the proposed methods. Stabilizers suggested in this!
work have the same structure as the traditional Russian PSS. The simulation results show that a highs performances and robustness using the first regulation technique method (ANFIS), due to the physical initial (real) non-linear power system.

Abstract: In this paper is analyzing the current operating conditions of one electric arc furnace (EAF) in order to evaluate the best option to solve the energy consumption problem. Experimental results show that EAFs represent a substantial source of electric disturbances, such as voltage fluctuations, flicker, harmonics, and unbalance between phases. Improvement of the energetic performances of an EAF imposes a careful technical and economical analysis. The possible compensation solutions include passive filter, SVC (static var compensator) and STATCOM (static synchronous compensator). Finally, the guideline for compensator selection and performance estimation is obtained.

Abstract: This paper opens the study of the metric flows and Riemannian metric dynamics generated by the covariant derivative of geometric vector fields on Riemannian manifolds. Section 1 recalls some basic geometric vector fields on Riemannian manifolds. Section 2 studies the evolution PDEs satisfied by the geometric entities induced by the flow of Riemannian metric. Section 3 finds the evolution PDEs induced by Riemannian metric dynamics. Section 4 and Section 5 give the equilibrium points and the steady states of some geometric evolutions. Section 6 and Section 7 study the metric flow or the metric dynamics in the direction of the Hessian of a function.

Abstract: The main goal of our paper is twofold: to analyze the Riemannian eta-convexity; to study the eta-monotonicity of vector fields on Riemannian manifolds, relative to a vectorial map eta defined for each pair of points, called from this reason, pairing map. The most important consequence of such ideas is the description of differentiable invex functions, using a deformation of the Hessian induced by the pairing map. This asks that the pairing map eta be antisymmetric with respect to the parallel transport along geodesics.

Abstract: In this paper we construct the differential equations of the stream lines that characterize plasma regarded as a non-isotropic medium geometrized by a jet rheonomic time-invariant Berwald-Moor metric. Section 1 contains historical notes regarding the Plasma Physics and its geometrical description. Section 2 analyzes the generalized Lagrange geometrical approach of the non-isotropic plasma on 1-jet spaces. Section 3 studies the non-isotropic plasma as a medium geometrized by the jet rheonomic Berwald-Moor metric.

These distributions are useful at the study of the vibrations of the elastic rods and of the thin plane plates, as well as in acoustics. The Dirac sequences of one and two variables are deduced on the basis of the obtained formulas.

Abstract: In this article, we will carry out the calculation for the power budget for a connection between a station of reception and a geostationary satellite, while stressing a phenomenon which influences the power budget which is the "phenomenon of antenna depointing" and that for both segments: ground and space. The application enables us to consider the losses caused by this phenomenon on the power budget and its impact on our connection while passing by the two cases: depointing of the antenna on the ground, and the depointing of the antenna on board. Finally, we will try to draw up a comparative study to see which of the two antennas can be most affected.

Abstract: In this paper a model of a tow degree of freedom seeker is represented. When we are going to design control loops for a seeker, normally one simple model is Sufficient but when the seeker combines with another large system, it is necessary to take attention to the effect of two gimbals interference. In other hand, seekers gimbals are not completely Symmetric and have a Centroid Relocation offset from their Corresponding center of Coordinates, that is function of seeker gimbals rotation angle. We should model the effect off this nonsymmetrical problem for having it's allowable amount. Here, two gimbals interference, distribution caused by angular rate and acceleration of the missile body, bearing friction interface and the gimbals mass imbalances will be modeled and their feature will be showed to avoid them.

Abstract: Abstractβ" In this paper, the desired states of a two degree of freedom gimbal is obtained from the desired inertial antenna rate which is calculated from the antenna signal. The kinematics relations between the inertial coordinate frame, the body frame, the first gimbal frame, the second gimbal frame and the seeker frame are calculated. The gimbals state equations are derived in state space form and a lyapanov function is introduced which gives the necessary and sufficient conditions for stability of the system.
